We are looking for Software Engineers with a strong focus on real-world Robotics, Signal Processing and Computer vision, to bring new product ideas to life and reimagine how we delight our customers with the help of Machine Learning and computer-vision-based solutions. Familiarity with theoretical foundations is equally important as a builder mindset with strong coding and practical problem solving skills. At Amazon Robotics, candidates have an opportunity to drive projects from research concept to a working prototype and beyond. The candidate should have a strong desire to move quickly to solve Amazon’s business problems via a structured approach.
This position will be based out of the Greater Boston Area in our state-of-the-art facility in Westborough, MA. The campus provides a unique opportunity for candidates to have direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities.
Key job responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to be a technical leader on the team. In this role, you will solve complex software and architectural problems which may not defined beforehand and design new workcell solutions that use our products. You will own the teams software, performance, benchmarks, hardware integrations, lighting and optics, and work proactively to identify cost optimal solutions that scale the solutions. You will design, develop, test and deploy software to our customer workcells. The role will require you to troubleshoot problems and ensure ease and speed of deployments at scale.

About the team
The Scanless Technology organization builds products that eliminate the need for explicit scanning in the Amazon Fulfillment Network. We research, design, and implement solutions for automated identification of objects and object movement by removing the need for manual scanning of identifiers, like barcodes. We integrate hardware, software, and machine learning, developing products that are solution-agnostic while enabling easy integration from installation to execution. We push the boundaries of current solutions to solve customer problems and impact many areas of Amazon’s operations. For our associates, our systems affect user experience by improving safety and ergonomy. For our large fleet or robots, they improve overall throughput and efficiency.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
- Strong communication skills, ability to work well in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and test software in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience with machine learning models
- Experience in distributed computing, service-oriented architectures and enterprise-wide systems
- Experience developing and documenting robust frameworks used by multiple teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
